My Philosophy of Education
The overall purpose of education should be to give each student equal access to a fair education. This means each student should at a minimum have a quality curriculum that will set him or her up for success in life. This would include all students, non-disabled or disabled, or every racial or ethnical group, of each socioeconomic class, and of both genders. A student should be able to walk out of school at the appropriate age with the ability to be a productive and happy citizen in society. This also requires that teacher be willing to work with students and be able to employ proven methods of teaching. It is important in today's world to develop thinkers and problems solvers. This can be done by utilizing students prior knowledge, motivating them through interactive activities, and creating environments where students can interact and take advantage of the social nature of the classroom through cooperative learning. Finally, it is imperative that teachers employ a positive attitude and display true patience with each learner.
